If you are considering this for your business, you might be interested in knowing that you might lose your best workers.
Studies from SWAA and UPenn suggest that 15% of the top-skilled workers who are currently remote, or hybrid might quit if RTO is mandated in the Financial and Technical Industries.
Of the 80K workers considered in the UPenn study (https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=5031481), around 50K were men and 30K were women. The study found that the Turnover rate among women as a direct result of RTO policy was around 12% as compared to 4% for men.
Of the 45% people that are likely to comply with the full time RTO requirements, some are those that are enthusiastic about the RTO and will remain highly engaged and productive. Some might be indifferent to WFH and RTO and maintain their level of engagement. It is the highly discouraged workers, who have very few choices in the marketplace that are likely to become highly disengaged.
Of the 40% (SWAA study) that will start looking, the split for females and males is 15% and 25%.
Key Insights:
1. Women are more likely to quit due to RTO
2. Highly skilled workers are more likely to quit.
3. Employee disengagement might range between 40% to 55%!
